1–9. Воцарение Охозии, 7-го иудейского царя, его нечестивый союз с царем израильским и гибель от руки Ииуя. 10–12. Кровавое царствование жестокой Гофолии.

1The inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his place; for the band of men who came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the eldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.

2Forty-two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.

. По евр. тексту и Vulg. ст. 2 Охозии при воцарении было 42 года, между тем по ст. 20 гл. XXI отец Охозии Иорам умер сорока лет, следовательно, сын его имел тогда значительно меньшее число лет. По 4 Цар VIII:26, Охозия воцарился 22-х лет. Дата "22" стоит и в маргинальн. код. 500 у Росси. Эту же дату принимают LXX по Александрийск. код. и код. 19, 55, 93, 103 (в принятом греческом тексте имеется ώς ετών είκοσι — «около 20 лет»), она удержана в слав.-русск., и параллельное место 4 Цар VIII:26 всецело подтверждает это чтение. Ошибка масор. текста легко могла произойти из смешения букв ??? (каф, 20) и ??? (мем, 40).

3He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab; for his mother was his counselor to do wickedly.

4He did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, as did the house of Ahab; for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.

. Нечестивый характер однолетнего (ср. ст. 2) царствования Охозии здесь изображается так же, как и в параллельном месте 4 Царств VIII:27, — но с добавочным замечанием, что нечестие его слагалось под влиянием Гофолии и других родственных ему членов дома Ахава.

5He walked also after their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth Gilead: and the Syrians wounded Joram.

6He returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which they had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Azariah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

. О роковом путешествии Охозии иудейского вместе с Иорамом израильским на войну против сириян здесь говорится одинаково с 4 Цар (VIII:28–29). В ст. 5 (конец) евр. harammim, передаваемое в халд., Вульг. русск. собственным именем «арамеи», «сирийцы», LXX принимают за нарицательное от корня ramah — «метать» и передают: τοξόται, слав. стрельцы . В ст. 6 Охозия в принятом евр. т. назван Азария (Кальмет, поэтому, предполагает, что этот царь имел три имени Охозия, Иоахаз, Азария), но, вероятно, по ошибке переписчика. В код. 2, 17, 80, 82, 219, 224 марг., 235 марг. 246, 531, 602, 607, 228, 590 у Кеник.; 196, 554, 737, 380 у Росси стоит имя Achazijahu, Охозия; так и у LXX, в Вульг., слав. и русск.

7Now the destruction of Ahaziah was of God, in that he went to Joram: for when he had come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.

8It happened, when Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, that he found the princes of Judah, and the sons of the brothers of Ahaziah, ministering to Ahaziah, and killed them.

9He sought Ahaziah, and they caught him (now he was hiding in Samaria), and they brought him to Jehu, and killed him; and they buried him, for they said, "He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the Lord with all his heart." The house of Ahaziah had no power to hold the kingdom.

10Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal family of the house of Judah.

11But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king's sons who were slain, and put him and his nurse in the bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah, so that she did not kill him.

12He was with them hidden in God's house six years: and Athaliah reigned over the land.

. Сн. 4 Цар XI:1–3. Толков. Библия, II. Из ст. 11 2 Пар впервые узнаем, что Иосавеф была женой первосвященника Иодая — в 4 Цар XI об этом не упомянуто. Само начертание имени Иосавеф неодинаково в евр. т. 4 Цар — lehoscheva — и 2 Пар: lehoschavath. Упоминание это вполне согласуется с документальным, преимущественно в генеалогическом отношении, характером кн. Паралипоменон.
