Day 49 of 365
Exod 40:1–38, Lev 1:1–17, Mark 1:17–45, Prov 11:21–31
Old Testament
1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
2 "On the first day of the first month you shall raise up the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting.
3 You shall put the ark of the testimony in it, and you shall screen the ark with the veil.
4 You shall bring in the table, and set in order the things that are on it. You shall bring in the menorah, and light its lamps.
5 You shall set the golden altar for incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the screen of the door to the tabernacle.
6 You shall set the altar of burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting.
7 You shall set the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and shall put water therein.
8 You shall set up the court around it, and hang up the screen of the gate of the court.
9 You shall take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is in it, and shall make it holy, and all its furniture: and it will be holy.
10 You shall anoint the altar of burnt offering, with all its vessels, and sanctify the altar: and the altar will be most holy.
11 You shall anoint the basin and its base, and sanctify it.
12 You shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and shall wash them with water.
13 You shall put on Aaron the holy garments; and you shall anoint him, and sanctify him, that he may minister to me in the priest's office.
14 You shall bring his sons, and put coats on them.
15 You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to me in the priest's office. Their anointing shall be to them for an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations."
16 Moses did so. According to all that the Lord commanded him, so he did.
17 It happened in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was raised up.
18 Moses raised up the tabernacle, and laid its sockets, and set up its boards, and put in its bars, and raised up its pillars.
19 He spread the covering over the tent, and put the roof of the tabernacle above on it, as the Lord commanded Moses.
20 He took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the poles on the ark, and put the mercy seat above on the ark.
21 He brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the testimony, as the Lord commanded Moses.
22 He put the table in the Tent of Meeting, on the side of the tabernacle northward, outside of the veil.
23 He set the bread in order on it before the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.
24 He put the menorah in the Tent of Meeting, opposite the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.
25 He lit the lamps before the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.
26 He put the golden altar in the Tent of Meeting before the veil;
27 and he burnt incense of sweet spices on it, as the Lord commanded Moses.
28 He put up the screen of the door to the tabernacle.
29 He set the altar of burnt offering at the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting, and offered on it the burnt offering and the meal offering, as the Lord commanded Moses.
30 He set the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water therein, with which to wash.
31 Moses, Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and their feet there.
32 When they went into the Tent of Meeting, and when they came near to the altar, they washed, as the Lord commanded Moses.
33 He raised up the court around the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the screen of the gate of the court. So Moses finished the work.
34 Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
35 Moses wasn't able to enter into the Tent of Meeting, because the cloud stayed on it, and the Lord's glory filled the tabernacle.
36 When the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward, throughout all their journeys;
37 but if the cloud wasn't taken up, then they did not travel until the day that it was taken up.
38 For the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
1 The Lord called to Moses, and spoke to him out of the Tent of Meeting, saying,
2 "Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, 'When anyone of you offers an offering to the Lord, you shall offer your offering of the livestock, from the herd and from the flock.
3 "'If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer a male without blemish. He shall offer it at the door of the Tent of Meeting, that he may be accepted before the Lord.
4 He shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.
5 He shall kill the bull before the Lord. Aaron's sons, the priests, shall present the blood and sprinkle the blood around on the altar that is at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
6 He shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into pieces.
7 The sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar, and lay wood in order on the fire;
8 and Aaron's sons, the priests, shall lay the pieces, the head, and the fat in order on the wood that is on the fire which is on the altar;
9 but its innards and its legs he shall wash with water. The priest shall burn the whole on the altar, for a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to the Lord.
10 "'If his offering is from the flock, from the sheep, or from the goats, for a burnt offering, he shall offer a male without blemish.
11 He shall kill it on the north side of the altar before the Lord. Aaron's sons, the priests, shall sprinkle its blood around on the altar.
12 He shall cut it into its pieces, with its head and its fat. The priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is on the altar,
13 but the innards and the legs he shall wash with water. The priest shall offer the whole, and burn it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to the Lord.
14 "'If his offering to the Lord is a burnt offering of birds, then he shall offer his offering of turtledoves, or of young pigeons.
15 The priest shall bring it to the altar, and wring off its head, and burn it on the altar; and its blood shall be drained out on the side of the altar;
16 and he shall take away its crop with its filth, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, in the place of the ashes.
17 He shall tear it by its wings, but shall not divide it apart. The priest shall burn it on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to the Lord.
New Testament
17 Jesus said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you into fishers for men."
18 Immediately they left the nets, and followed him.
19 Going on a little further, he saw Jacob the son of Zebedee, and John, his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets.
20 Immediately he called them, and they left their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.
21 They went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught.
22 They were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.
23 Just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he shouted,
24 saying, "What do we have to do with you, Jesus, you Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: the Holy One of God!"
25 Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!"
26 The unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him.
27 They were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, "What is this? A new teaching? For with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him!"
28 The report of him went out immediately into all the region of Galilee and its surrounding area.
29 Immediately, when they had come out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with Jacob and John.
30 Now Simon's wife's mother lay sick with a fever, and immediately they told him about her.
31 And he came and took her by the hand, and raised her up. The fever left her, and she served them.
32 At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all who were sick, and those who were possessed by demons.
33 All the city was gathered together at the door.
34 He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew him.
35 Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there.
36 Simon and those who were with him followed after him;
37 and they found him, and told him, "Everyone is looking for you."
38 He said to them, "Let us go somewhere else into the next towns, that I may proclaim there also, because I came out for this reason."
39 He went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out demons.
40 A leper came to him, begging him, kneeling down to him, and saying to him, "If you want to, you can make me clean."
41 Being moved with compassion, he stretched out his hand, and touched him, and said to him, "I want to. Be made clean."
42 Immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was made clean.
43 He strictly warned him, and immediately sent him out,
44 and said to him, "See you say nothing to anyone, but go show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing the things which Moses commanded, for a testimony to them."
45 But he went out, and began to proclaim it much, and to spread about the matter, so that Jesus could no more openly enter into a city, but was outside in desert places: and they came to him from everywhere.
Wisdom
21 Most certainly, the evil man will not be unpunished, but the seed of the righteous will be delivered.
22 Like a gold ring in a pig's snout, is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion.
23 The desire of the righteous is only good. The expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24 There is one who scatters, and increases yet more. There is one who withholds more than is appropriate, but gains poverty.
25 The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself.
26 People curse someone who withholds grain, but blessing will be on the head of him who sells it.
27 He who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but he who searches after evil, it shall come to him.
28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf.
29 He who troubles his own house shall inherit the wind. The foolish shall be servant to the wise of heart.
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life. He who is wise wins souls.
31 Behold, the righteous shall be repaid in the earth; how much more the wicked and the sinner!
