Deut 23:1–25

1 He who is wounded in the stones, or has his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the assembly of the Lord.

2 No one of illegitimate birth shall enter into the assembly of the Lord; even to the tenth generation shall none of his enter into the assembly of the Lord.

3 An Ammonite or a Moabite shall not enter into the assembly of the Lord; even to the tenth generation shall none belonging to them enter into the assembly of the Lord forever:

4 because they did not meet you with bread and with water in the way, when you came forth out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.

5 Nevertheless the Lord your God wouldn't listen to Balaam; but the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing to you, because the Lord your God loved you.

6 You shall not seek their peace nor their prosperity all your days forever.

7 You shall not abhor an Edomite; for he is your brother: you shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you lived as a foreigner in his land.

8 The children of the third generation who are born to them shall enter into the assembly of the Lord.

9 When you go forth in camp against your enemies, then you shall keep yourselves from every evil thing.

10 If there is among you any man who is not clean by reason of that which happens him by night, then shall he go outside of the camp. He shall not come within the camp:

11 but it shall be, when evening comes on, he shall bathe himself in water; and when the sun is down, he shall come within the camp.

12 You shall have a place also outside of the camp, where you shall go outside there;

13 and you shall have a spade among your tools; and it shall be, when you sit down outside, you shall dig therewith, and shall turn and cover that which comes from you:

14 for the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you, and to give up your enemies before you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that he may not see an unclean thing in you, and turn away from you.

15 You shall not deliver to his master a servant who is escaped from his master to you:

16 he shall dwell with you, in the midst of you, in the place which he shall choose within one of your gates, where it pleases him best: you shall not oppress him.

17 There shall be no prostitute of the daughters of Israel, neither shall there be a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

18 You shall not bring the hire of a prostitute, or the wages of a dog, into the house of the Lord your God for any vow: for even both these are an abomination to the Lord your God.

19 You shall not lend on interest to your brother; interest of money, interest of food, interest of anything that is lent on interest:

20 to a foreigner you may lend on interest; but to your brother you shall not lend on interest, that the Lord your God may bless you in all that you put your hand to, in the land where you go in to possess it.

21 When you shall vow a vow to the Lord your God, you shall not be slack to pay it: for the Lord your God will surely require it of you; and it would be sin in you.

22 But if you shall forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in you.

23 That which is gone out of your lips you shall observe and do; according as you have vowed to the Lord your God, a freewill offering, which you have promised with your mouth.

24 When you come into your neighbor's vineyard, then you may eat of grapes your fill at your own pleasure; but you shall not put any in your vessel.

25 When you come into your neighbor's standing grain, then you may pluck the ears with your hand; but you shall not move a sickle to your neighbor's standing grain.

Luke 11:1–22

1 It happened, that when he finished praying in a certain place, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples."

2 He said to them, "When you pray, say, 'Father, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come.

3 Give us day by day our daily bread.

4 Forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.'"

5 He said to them, "Which of you, if you go to a friend at midnight, and tell him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,

6 for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him,'

7 and he from within will answer and say, 'Do not bother me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give it to you'?

8 I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.

9 "I tell you, ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened to you.

10 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.

11 "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, he won't give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?

12 Or if he asks for an egg, he won't give him a scorpion, will he?

13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"

14 He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. It happened, when the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke; and the multitudes marveled.

15 But some of them said, "He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons."

16 Others, testing him, sought from him a sign from heaven.

17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. A house divided against itself falls.

18 If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.

19 But if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore will they be your judges.

20 But if I by the finger of God cast out demons, then the Kingdom of God has come to you.

21 "When the strong man, fully armed, guards his own dwelling, his goods are safe.

22 But when someone stronger attacks him and overcomes him, he takes from him his whole armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils.

Ps 44:1–26

1 We have heard with our ears, God; our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the days of old.

2 You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.

3 For they did not get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them.

4 You are my King, God. Command victories for Jacob!

5 Through you, will we push down our adversaries. Through your name, will we tread them under who rise up against us.

6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

7 But you have saved us from our adversaries, and have shamed those who hate us.

8 In God we have made our boast all day long, we will give thanks to your name forever. Selah.

9 But now you rejected us, and brought us to dishonor, and do not go out with our armies.

10 You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take spoil for themselves.

11 You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations.

12 You sell your people for nothing, and have gained nothing from their sale.

13 You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.

14 You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

15 All day long my dishonor is before me, and shame covers my face,

16 At the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.

17 All this has come on us, yet have we not forgotten you, Neither have we been false to your covenant.

18 Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path,

19 Though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.

20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange god;

21 won't God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.

22 Yes, for your sake we are killed all day long. We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.

23 Wake up! Why do you sleep, Lord? Arise! Do not reject us forever.

24 Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?

25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body cleaves to the earth.

26 Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your loving kindness' sake.
